Guide to High Performance Speakers and Enclosures

Optimizing speakers and enclosures may be the most important aspect of your sound installations. The larger the speaker the better the sound. The extensive selection and sizes shown here will allow you to choose the largest, quality speakers available for your particular installations.

Do not overlook speaker enclosures or baffles.

The proper speaker enclosure or baffle is most important! A speaker produces a forward and then a reverse sound wave. Without a baffle or an enclosure to create an air tight seal between the front and the back waves, the waves cancel each other out, producing little volume. An ideal baffle should be sized so it's volume is 3 times the volume of the speaker. Also, different materials for the baffles give different tonal effects. You can fabricate your own enclosures using styrene, card board, wood and pill bottles or use the enclosures we have designed. These enclosures have been designed to optimize volume and more accurately reproduce the full range of locomotive sounds. Engineered from Delrin plastic, these exclusive enclosures are designed for an air tight snap fit, making installations simple and easy, and most of all, giving your installation the sounds you expect.
